Bad Brains, the name of the punk rock band,

Even though the band has resisted the term “hardcore,” they have over the years released songs that helped to popularize it. Yet there are many facets to the universe of Bad Brains as well. Even with its thrashing origins, the group is now recognized for its melancholy, even devotional reggae music.

Nine studio albums have been published by Bad Brains to date. The band has broken up and reassembled several times throughout the years, occasionally with various frontmen and members. According to many, the original lineup was drummer Earl Hudson, bassist Darryl Jenifer, guitarist Dr. Know (Paul D. Hudson), and vocalist H.R. or “Human Rights” (Gary Miller). Before 1987, these musicians performed as Bad Brains. They got back together multiple times in following years.

Several well-known bands, including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Guns N’ Roses, and others have mentioned Bad Brains as a key influence.
